Brazilian Pizza in Pigeon Forge

Pigeon Forge has plenty of great slices, but only one spot serves pizza the Brazilian way. If you have never done a pizza rodizio, it is one of the most fun group meals in the Smokies. Here is how it works and why it is worth a stop.

What is a pizza rodizio?

Rodizio is an all-you-can-eat service style borrowed from Brazilian steakhouses and applied to pizza. Instead of ordering one pie and waiting, servers move from table to table carrying fresh rounds in dozens of flavors. You grab a slice of whatever looks good, then keep going until you are full. Savory pies come first, then the dessert rounds start rolling.

Endless rounds

Servers bring slice after slice, so you sample far more flavors than a single order.

Built for groups

No arguing over toppings. Everyone tries everything at their own pace.

Dessert pizza

Chocolate, banana, and condensed milk pies close out the meal, Brazilian style.

Pizza Rio is the only place in Pigeon Forge doing Brazilian pizza rodizio. The crust runs thinner and softer than a typical American pie, the sauce is lighter, and the toppings go well beyond pepperoni: think catupiry cheese, hearts of palm, corn, and combinations you will not find anywhere else in town. Come hungry, pace yourself, and save room for the sweet rounds. It is a genuinely different night out and a great pick for families or bigger groups.

How Brazilian pizza differs from American pizza

  • Thinner, softer crust with a lighter hand on the sauce.
  • Toppings you rarely see stateside: catupiry cheese, hearts of palm, sweet corn, and green peas.
  • Slices are meant to be sampled, not devoured one whole pie at a time.
  • Dessert pizzas are a full course, topped with chocolate, banana, strawberry, and condensed milk.
